Thanksgiving Day, Part 3

These are of quiet/story time or actually sleeping time!

Oh, I guess he doesn't like that book, sorry Grandma!

Thanksgiving Day, Part 2

Pets are a part of Thanksgiving too!

After giving Riley some pat pats, he moved on to Lacey. . . .

Of course we know how much he loves Chloe!

Thanksgiving Day, Part 1

They are finally here! And there are so many great pictures (and some cute video too) from Thanksgiving Day, and I want to do them all their justice, so I'm splitting them up into several sections. I'm not sure yet how many there will be, but I'll try to get at least one up every day until they are done. If you recall, I had mentioned that my sister Amy is in a photo journalism class and she took some (ha ha *try 350+) pictures to use for an assignment. I'm no expert but I think some are quite good!

This segment is all about food!

Morning Snack = Cheerios and Yogurt

He was asking if the yogurt was all gone

Mmmm, green beans - a favorite food!

I know this isn't Clayton, but it's a really good shot of my parents' dog Riley eying (and yes, that is just ONE eye that he has) our delicious deep fat fried turkey, I don't know if she got in our sink to take it or what. . . lol

Can I have some?

Bonk!

Clayton loves to bonk heads usually, but he had fun bonking Daddy's hand in the tub several nights ago!

Eating with a Spoon

Well I was so proud of my big boy this morning, who ate his oatmeal (with applesauce and cinnamon stirred in, yummy!) with a spoon all by himself. Darrel even got it on video. Clayton did such a good job, and while we have tried a little before this is the best he has done with it so far. Typically when I give him the spoon and the bowl he will alternate hands and never succeeds in scooping much onto the spoon on his  own. Something clicked for him though this morning!

Little Whistle Blower

Clayton got a hold of Daddy's whistle one evening and we let him play with it and he got pretty close to being able to blow it. (This was the same night as the dishwasher-helper video too). There have been other times since then when he has swiped the whistle and was able to get a fairly loud sound out of it.

We had a great Thanksgiving Day with my folks yesterday, they came to our house and even though Clayton only took a one hour nap he still did pretty well with the holiday. My sister, Auntie Amy, is in a photo journalism class and took about 350 pictures (mostly of Clayton) yesterday for a project (she only needed 12 but they have to be good ones, ya know?) So hopefully soon she will get some to me and I will be able to have a big picture party for the blog. We've had dinner with Darrel's family today, but for now Clayton and I are back at our house so he can get a decent nap in. Hopefully we can head back over there after nap time for some good play time with his grandparents, aunt and uncles and cousin Kolby!

Big Helper

Clayton can be such a big helper! We have trained him to help us close the dishwasher since it is so tempting to just climb in it or start pulling random things out of it. If he sees the dishwasher door open we encourage him to help us close it and give him lots of praise. Also, he gets to help push the button to start if it is full and he thinks that is about the best part ever! This isn't the best example of him closing it, but you get the idea!

Mower

Clayton still loves to play with his mower. Luckily he has found a new, quieter way to play with it!

Baby #2 - 25 Week Check up

We had a pre-natal check up yesterday and Mommy and baby brother are doing just fine. My blood pressure is still OK at 130/70, and the baby's heart rate was in the 140s. My measurements were a little large with a fundal height of 28cm, which is technically with in a normal range, but since I was 25 weeks and 3 days, I should have been closer to 25cm's. Of course this sounds familiar to anyone who remembers how things went with Clayton's pregnancy, so I am not worried or thinking that the due date is wrong or even that I will have a gigantic baby. I think I just grow babies that measure big most of the time and then apparently slow down towards the end to make a nice average sized baby (like 7lbs 6 ozs!). I also had my 1 hour glucose challenge test and I am guessing they would have called me by now if I had Gestational Diabetes, but I should get the results in a letter. My next check up will be in 4 weeks, and then after that we will start having appointments every two weeks! Only 14 1/2 (or less) weeks left!

Bobcat

Clayton had another busy couple of days this past weekend! I had some technical difficulties getting these pictures from my phone to the computer, and then this week has been crazy with Clayton's new nap "schedule" (or really, the lack there of).

Saturday we spent a good chunk of the day out at Great-Grandma's for lunch with Betsy, Brandon and Kolby and then we stayed to watch the game with Great-Grandma and her sister Sue (who we realized is Clayton's Great-Great Aunt!)

Sunday we went to Lincoln so we could get some things at Target, like Clayton's new convertible car seat. He will stay rear facing until 40lbs or 40 inches (whichever comes first, but my money is on the 40 inches) and then the same seat will turn around to face forward until up to 50lbs. I'm not sure at what point he gets to move to a booster seat, but I'm sure we will have to take into account when baby brother needs the next seat too. After shopping and lunch, we spent some time playing at the Petersen Grandparents house (and a little nap for the big guy) and then we checked out Grandpa's bobcat before it was time to go home. Clayton thought it was pretty cool sitting in there with Dad, and even tried to help drive it!

How do I make this thing go?!

Clayton at Play

As a 1 year old, Clayton spends most of his waking hours playing! He does a lot of it on his own with out much help from mom and dad. Here are some shots (and one little video) of some things that he loves to do.

He loves to drive cars and trucks around whether he's inside or out. He often gets the sound effects going too - "vroom, vroom"

Playing with his truck outside, 10/10
Clayton often puts random toys in his mouth and and walks around that way. This little car is by far one of the silliest things he has ever walked around with in his mouth.

He doesn't always use toys for their intended purpsoe either! He is using his little car ramp for a seat while he tries to put that little car down the ramp on the front of his giraffe. He also likes to use the car ramp properly and puts everything down there that will go - from the cars that came with it to the balls from his giraffe and blocks. Clayton also really likes to play with that Little People Barn you see in the background but every time I have tried to take a picture or a video he quits playing with it!
Being a ham - 11/1
Of course he wants to run around outside as much as we will let him. We didn't get to go out yesterday since it was cold, rainy and windy, so I took him out this morning a little before lunch. We bundled up against the 34 degrees, but he enjoyed his 10-15 min. of fresh air.

Halloween (photo bomb!)

Here are the rest of the pictures (the good ones anyway) that I took yesterday.

Clayton got a card in the mail from his Great Grandpa and Grandma Branz, and he thought it was pretty neat. I forgot to show him how it glows in the dark though, we'll have to remember to do that tomorrow.

Here are the rest that we took outside in the afternoon. If you will, notice that he is not wearing any shoes, just socks... I told Clayton to find his shoes because we were going outside. He knows what this means and went over the to steps because he had thrown one down there earlier, so we go that one, but I could NOT find his other shoe (he only has one pair). So he is walking around saying "ishes" (Clayton for shoes apparently) and starting to get really upset that we are not going outside! After about 5 min, I gave up and just took him outside with his socks on because he was getting so upset! I did find the shoe later (during his nap), it was behind the computer along with several toys and household items. I'll have to remember that hiding place for next time!

Knock, knock! Trick or Treat!

Here he is last night getting ready to walk up to his very first house for trick or treating! We went to our next door neighbors and Branz family friend's house the Norquest's.

After that he walked most of the way down Harre Lane (like a full block at least) and we stopped at one of Darrel's high school classmate's house and across the street from her lives the secretary at the middle school, so we went there and she was dressed up like an old lady/witch and she was being so sweet but Clayton started crying! So we hurried off to get to Grandma's house for one last trick or treating stop. He picked a pixie stick out of her candy bowl and ended up chewing through it enough to get some sugar out... whoops, big surprise!!
Ah! Pixie stick is sour!
Then it was time to go home and we hung out at home for a while watching the trick or treaters come to our house, and we let Clayton have some more candy... Luckily he doesn't mind if it is still in the wrapper, and he walked around with this Whoppers in his mouth, happy as could be.

I think that all in all he had a pretty fun day! The cutest super man EVER!!
