Wedding Weekend

My cousin Jamie got married last weekend. We had some trouble getting out the door on time.... we had a missing a Driver's Licence to find, broken light bulbs, a baby that wants to be held All. The. Time. And a 3-year-old who wanted painted toenails. . . (all while we are trying to pack and eat lunch and get out the door).

We realized that it was pretty quiet in the bathroom (Reese's last known whereabouts). And we found him like that with a bottle of Mommy's nail polish! He actually didn't do too bad of a job, haha! He did get in trouble just since he could make a mess that way if it spilled or got on clothes, but I don't think he was trying to be naughty. We just told him he needs to ask for help if wants that (and Mommy has to put her fingernail polish out of reach!) I handled him with care; I just cleaned it up, and then fixed it for him. (He wanted them painted so bad, I don't feel right telling him it's "a girl thing" or anything like that. If girls can play with trucks, Reese can paint his toenails when he's three.) Of course Clayton wanted to be included, so we all three had matching red toenails for the wedding!

Wyatt was happy to see Grandma Dianne and enjoyed her doing "Little Piggies" (as always)

It was more fun once we got to the reception and the boys could play (there was a nice, enclosed, outdoor area) and dance. For supper they ate applesauce that Mommy packed and probably half their body weight in goldfish crackers. (They also had a snack in church during the wedding).. and of course cake!

Wyatt did really well and even allowed us to stay up way past his bedtime by letting me wear him. He even fell asleep despite the loud band!

The Boys' Rooms

Well, it might have taken a while, but we finally did it! Clayton and Reese moved downstairs to their basement bedroom in January of this year and we finally got everything more the way we want it, decoration-wise. We were sort of waiting on Reese to be potty trained to buy him a "big" (twin) bed and move him out of the toddler bed, and that finally happened at the end of July. So we have everything all set up the way we imagined it! (We did this while the boys were at the Caboose Cabin for two days).

We also got the letters for Wyatt's name hung up, and that room is now a little more dedicated to being his room instead of the older two's. We did this just before he turned 6 months old!

Swinging IS fun

On Sunday evening, Wyatt finally decided he might like the swing outside. I think being able to sit so well unassisted is what helps the most. I don't think that swing is very comfy for a little baby!

Sitting tall and looking proud!

Wee! Fun!

Driveway Races

This is one way the boys have been spending their time last week. I think they miss playing with each other when they are separated at preschool.

Wyatt is eating!

Wyatt has been working on his eating skills for a few weeks now and he really enjoys his food! (You know "they" don't want you to start solids till 6 months old now...already different from when Clayton was a baby!) We've even gotten some practice with a sippy cup (trying to work in some prune juice to help regulate things... he's doing much better after about 4 or 5 days of it and let me know by having a blow out diaper while we were out and about running errands tonight).

Last Daycare Day

The little girl, BryLee, that I have been watching for daycare since last July had her last day on Friday (8/14). It was bittersweet time to say goodbye but also move forward with new things. It's been fun watching her grow over the past year, and I was sure glad that Reese had someone to play with while Clayton was at preschool. But now Wyatt will get to take an afternoon nap in his own crib and maybe mommy will actually get something done (like clean the kitchen) during the day!
Sharing a Popsicle treat together one last time

All those crazy kiddos!
So now, during the morning while the boys are at school it is just me and the babies (Wyatt of course and Harvey, 10 months)! So we can focus on doing fun baby things like take a morning nap and eat baby food!! haha.

Back To School!

Today is the first day of Preschool for Clayton and Reese!

Clayton has a new teacher, Miss Barlow this year (but the same classroom and a few of the same classmates, too!) Clayton struggled to fall asleep last night (too excited I guess) it was probably around 10:00 pm before he settled down and fell asleep! Hopefully he is not too tired for school, but I sense a nap coming this afternoon. . .  He is a seasoned preschool attendee and he is looking forward to playing with blocks!

Reese has Mrs. Ecklund for a teacher (and I'm glad that he has a more experienced teacher as he can be quite the handful!) He's had a hard time the last few days at home, I think he is a little nervous about going and has been acting out. He actually told me one morning last week that he didn't want to miss me. Last night when I excitedly announced that there was school tomorrow, his initial reaction was to cover his face. So I know he is having some big feelings about this, but I've done my best to validate and reassure him and he was excited to go this morning, no tears!
"I want to be a plane" he said - haha

Big Day on Saturday!

The boys, especially Wyatt had a BIG day on Saturday! We started the morning by driving to Lincoln to get Wyatt's six month pictures taken at Penny's and they turned out better than I imagined. The boys did so well.

Here are some of my favorites and a link to view the whole album:

After pictures we went back to Grandpa Mark and Grandma Dianne's house to play and have lunch before heading home. Wyatt mostly napped but did have some fun too:

After that we went home to chill for a while, but Daddy needed to do some work on the farm, so we ALL went out to help turn some pivot motors off/on. So Wyatt had a first 4-wheeler ride on the farm.
Waiting safely in the 4-wheeler while Daddy starts the pivot motor.

We had to ride in the truck to get to one pivot and we just all piled in the front seat (we figured just a quick trip on dirt roads, no traffic, that was OK). Wyatt actually just slumped forward and fell asleep in my lap on the way back. All that adventure wore him out! Then we stopped to eat supper in Waco on the way home. It was a fun and busy day!

Fun at the York County Fair!

The boys enjoyed an evening at the fair last Thursday (August 6), visiting the petting zoo (Reese was bitten by a rat after I specifically told him NOT to put his fingers in the cage...). Their favorite part though was going on the rides of course!

Riding the little train

Daddy rode the Ferris Wheel with them (it was the first  year they were tall enough!)

Mommy got to ride the Merry-Go-Round with them!

They even got to go back to the fair again on Saturday with Grandma and Papa! (Mom and Dad were at a wedding). They watched the Figure 8 races and it sounds like they got wristbands and got to ride on all the rides their little hearts desired.

Six months already!

Wyatt turned 6 months old on Monday! He's growing up too fast! He just had his 6 month check up this afternoon. He weighed exactly the same as 2 months ago - 16.5 lbs! But he grew in length, he's 26.75 inches long now! He doesn't look skinny, so I don't know why his weight didn't go up. Maybe it was a mistake last time? Although the double chin he had at 4 months is gone I guess. Maybe starting on solids will help fatten him up!

So many cute pictures! It's fun now that he's sitting so well unsupported. He gets stronger every day! (Scroll all the way down for two video of him at the end!)

He LOVES this blue bear with a rattle inside

And some cute videos!

He's already much better at sitting up for long periods of time than his was when this was taken Aug. 9th!

See how much better he did the next day even? (Taken on Aug. 10th) Apparently, blocks are very funny. (You can also hear Harvey in the background, Wyatt didn't make all that noise by himself)

He does have a little "inch-worm" thing going on too. He tripods up on his head and scoot a little ways across the floor. He's also starting to figure out that he can roll around to get what he wants. I think as soon as he's strong enough / can figure out how to get those hips up and his knees under him, he will just be able to take off if he wants to! (Taken Aug 9th)
